The Mentoring Strategy That Led the CEO of MailChimp to Success

TRANSKRIP
So in the early days of Mailchimp,
I never really tried to seek out one all-encompassing mentor that I could lean on.
I didn’t look for a founder who had hired a CEO,
I looked for a CEO who took the place of a founder.
Because I figure I get enough advice, I have enough crazy founder in here already.
I wanna know what CEOs who had to take over have been through.
What they learned from dealing with crazy founders.
What I got out of it was that I really needed to seek mentorship and advice from people who are operational.
People who aren’t founders like me, but people who have maybe the polar opposite of me.
And so, that’s really how I helped round out my executive team as I found out people who could balance me out.
If you’re not careful, you might look up one day
and find that your company has grown to 200 300 employees, and you don’t even know how to talk to them.
So it really helps to have mentors in your life and advisors who’ve been there and done that before and can help you go through that transition.

TERJEMAHAN
So in the early days of Mailchimp,
Di masa-masa awal Mailchimp,

I never really tried to seek out one all-encompassing mentor that I could lean on.

I didn’t look for a founder who had hired a CEO,

I looked for a CEO who took the place of a founder.
saya mencari seorang Direktur Utama yang menggantikan posisi pendiri perusahaan.

Because I figure I get enough advice, I have enough crazy founder in here already.

I wanna know what CEOs who had to take over have been through.
Saya ingin tahu apa yang dialami Direktur Utama yang menggantikan posisi pendiri perusahaan.
