TERJEMAHAN

I’ve known her since I was seven.
Aku mengenalnya sejak aku berumur tujuh tahun.

I had a crush on her even back then.
Bahkan aku naksir dia waktu itu.

But she lived back in the Dominican Republic, so I’d only get to see her during the summer.
Tapi dia tinggal Republik Dominika, jadi aku hanya bisa bertemu dengannya di musim panas.

We just got tired of being apart.
Kami capek terpisah satu sama lain.

So I asked her to marry me.
Jadi aku melamarnya.

My parents were against it.
Orang tuaku tidak setuju.

I was twenty-one.
Umurku dua puluh satu.

I was going to City College.
Aku akan berkuliah di City College.

I was still living at home and they thought I wasn’t ready.
Aku masih tinggal di rumah orang tua saya dan mereka pikir saya belum siap.

And there was definitely some truth to that.
Dan ada benarnya juga.

I had to drop out of school once she moved in with us.
Aku harus berhenti kuliah begitu dia tinggal bersama kami.

I couldn’t handle everything.
Aku tidak bisa mengatur semuanya.

At first I was depressed but I started to progress quickly at work.
Awalnya aku stress tapi karirku mulai naik dengan cepat.

I got raise after raise.
Aku mendapat promosi demi promosi.

We moved out of my parents’ house and got a small apartment in the Bronx.
Kami pindah dari rumah orangtuaku dan tinggal di sebuah apartemen kecil di Bronx.

Now I’m studying to get my electrical license.
Sekarang aku belajar untuk mendapatkan lisensi kelistrikanku.

I’ve seen a lot of the guys I work with start their own companies.
Aku sudah melihat banyak orang yang bekerja denganku memulai usaha mereka sendiri.

You’ve just got to want it.
Kamu hanya harus menginginkannya.

You’ve got to want to move up, and you can find a way.
Kamu harus ingin berkembang, dan kamu akan mendapatkan jalan.

The marriage has been great and it’s been tough.
Pernikahanku baik dan sedang susah.

We have a two-year-old daughter now.
Kami punya anak berusia dua tahun sekarang.

It’s a lot of work.
Banyak sekali yang perlu dikerjakan.

But it’s also awesome to go home everyday and find two people who love me.
Tapi juga menyenangkan pulang setiap hari dan bertemu dua orang yang mencintaiku.
